InPhase Solutions partner in 68 million dollar research grant from the Norwegian government
Friday the 21st of November the Research Council of Norway (RCN) announced a new round of Centres for Research based Innovation (SFI).
InPhase Solutions is one of 12 industry partners in one of the 17 awarded centers: CIUS - Center for innovative ultrasound solutions for healthcare, maritime, and oil & gas industries.
The goal of CIUS is to become “a world-leading centre for research and innovation in next-generation ultrasound technology for healthcare, oil & gas, and the maritime industry.”
The total budget of the center is approximately 68 million dollars distributed over the next 8 years, and represents a significant possibility for the broad spectered world renowned Norwegian ultrasound industry to consolidate its R&D effort on joint fundamental ultrasound technology aspects together with academic and public institutions.
“This represents a great opportunity for us, and we are truly looking forward to work with such a broad industry consortium for the next 8 years”, states CEO Svein-Erik Måsøy.
The industry consortium is championed by large actors from each industry field including GE Healthcare, Kongsberg Maritime Subsea Division, Statoil, and Archer.
The additional industry partners are: Medistim, Sonowand, Aurotech Ultrasound, Phoenix Solutions, X-FAB Semiconductor Foundries, Sensorlink, Halfwave, and InPhase Solutions.
The center is hosted by The Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Other academic partners are: The University of Oslo, SINTEF, and Buskerud and Vestfold University College.
